Bio
Brad has been a fully qualified and registered psychologist for over 30 years. He spent 8 years employed by Queensland Health, working in both acute and long-stay psychiatric settings. He was responsible for setting up, and then operating, an outreach psychiatric service to centres throughout south-west Queensland. In 1988, Brad went into full-time, independent private practice. In addition to his individual consultations with private clients, Brad has served as a consultant to the banking and retail industries. Brad was a front-line responder to traumatic incidents (hold-ups, assaults, etc.) involving staff from banks, retail stores, and government agencies. He is highly experienced in trauma debriefing, and has run a number of workshops and training courses for other professionals in this field.
Brad spent several years as a lecturer/tutor and researcher at the University of Queensland, in the areas of Behavioural Medicine and Child Behaviour.
Since 1988, Brad has been a consultant to the Australian Institute of Sport. He is also a consultant to the Queensland Academy of Sport. In these roles, Brad has worked with numerous individual athletes, as well as local, state and national sporting teams, to assist with preparation for competition, achieving maximum performance, and learning new skills. Holding dual qualifications as both a Clinical and Sports Psychologist has meant that Brad has worked with many elite performers to assist them with personal issues, such as eating disorders, relationship problems, drug and alcohol addiction, and performance anxiety.
Brad has a strong interest in Health Psychology, and has been involved with Cardiac Rehabilitation for over 20 years. He has written several training manuals and presented numerous papers in this field. He also works with clients with other health conditions such as chronic pain, asthma, cancer, and fertility problems.
Brad has been assisting children/teenagers/adults with autism for many years. He has successfully completed specialist training in this field, and is recognised as a provider of services to people with autism.
